[He's pretty sure they call it "afterglow." Which makes sense. It feels like basking in the sunlight or in front of a fireplace. Content, warm, safe, sleepy. Kind of achy from exertion, which is a new feeling entirely, but not at all unpleasant. Blissed out.]
[Also a new feeling. He's never felt bliss before.]
[He drifts for awhile, losing track of time, dozing with his head against Mettaton's chest, bare limbs tangled around him. His soul is back in his ribcage, not ready to fade out yet. It's still frayed and still too small, but it's brighter now than it was. He can feel Mettaton's soul glowing nearby. And more than that, he can feel the rest of it again--Mettaton's sleepy contentment and love, quieter now that the adrenaline--or monster equivalent--has faded.]
[Sans stirs a little, shifting his face to a more comfortable position, like a sleeping cat. He grins suddenly, not opening his eyesockets.]
[He's never really needed to sleep that much. Most of the time he's up all night, exploring the mansion and bothering anyone he can grab. But tonight he actually feels the need to rest, because not only did his body get a work out, his soul did too. So he sleeps, warm and happy. It's not his bed so it's not perfect with 1,000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, but he's pretty sure the next time he and Sans do this sort of thing, he can take him to his room. He'll have to find someone to watch Mini while that happens but that's for the future.
For right now, he wraps himself tight around Sans, sighing contentedly. He can feel a soft pulse of bliss coming from the monster in his arms and he chuckles a bit, planting a soft kiss to the top of his skull. His soul feels warm and at peace, echoed by Sans's soul in tandem.]
Mm. I turned it off before we got too rowdy. We should still watch it sometime though. It does get sad, however.
[He stretches his legs a bit, taking up more room on the bed and pulling Sans closer as he moves.]
[He giggles softly as Mettaton kisses him and snuggles a bit closer. You'd think bone against metal would be uncomfortable, but Sans feels like he's sinking into a pile of down pillows. He fits against Mettaton almost perfectly. Though he kind of wonders if Mettaton just feels like he's holding a particularly large and bony cat. Sans is even smaller without his clothes.]
it looked like it was goin' places. i don't mind sad. the music 'n colors were fun.
[In the end, it doesn't really matter how small or bint Sans is against him. All that matters is that Mettaton loves him. And that he can stroke his skull gently.]
It's stunning, in my opinion. And heartbreaking but that's part of the romance. It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.
[That's the theme of the movie, anyway. As much as Mettaton wishes he could live by that idea, losing someone who means everything to him feels like it would be worse than not having them in the first place.
It doesn't matter though. He nuzzles his face into Sans. No matter what happens here, he's not going to let him go.]
Mm, darling, I must say you did very well in keeping up with me tonight. It was wonderful.
[Mettaton lets out a pleased hum. Sans's giggles are so rare, and yet here he is, having the privilege of hearing it so often. Must be doing something right. Sans presses a kiss to his shoulder and then Mettaton is the one letting out a giggle, pulling Sans closer and burying his face into his shoulder.]
You did just fine, darling. I don't think I've had that much fun in a long time.
[Sleeping with the aliens had been great, don't get him wrong, but there was something nice about experiencing a true interaction between souls.]
If I am honest... I never thought I would be able to. Do that, with our souls, with anyone. I didn't think it was in the cards, so to speak.

I'm glad it happened. And I'm especially grateful that it happened with you. There's no one else I can even begin to imagine sharing myself on that level with.

yeah, i...i didn't either. didn't think i'd ever be able to. the amount of trust involved. and i always kinda...thought maybe my soul just wouldn't be up for it.

[Gosh, they sound like the sappiest couple in the entire world. How can Wonderland stand them? He doesn't know. But maybe sometime soon he'll go on the network and just. Announce to everyone that he's taken. He's sure that will break a few hearts. And he's definitely excited for that.]
